Heading to Whistler? Fly to Seattle and Save Money.

Planning a vacation to Whistler? If you're an American, make sure you look into the cost difference between flying to SeaTac (Seattle-Tacoma) Airport and Vancouver International Airport (YVR). Depending on the size of your group, you could save a significant amount of money by flying to Seattle and then hiring a limousine, car, minbus, SUV, etc. to drive you up to Whistler.
I just spent some time on Expedia.com and compared the average cost of a non-stop ticket from JFK (New York) to SeaTac and JFK to Vancouver (YVR). On average, tickets to Seattle were almost $300 less each way! That is a cost savings of $600/person! A group of 4 would save $2400 on flights.
Lets say you decide to hire a luxury SUV to take you from the airport to Whistler. That is going to cost around $1700 (round trip) from Seattle and around $800 (round trip) from Vancouver. So you pay an additional $900 on ground transfers, but you saved $2400 on flights!
Of course the drive from Seattle is a bit longer (approximately 3 hours extra), but its a beautiful drive from Seattle and the vehicles are very comfortable. And just think about that extra $1500 in your pocket! That might be enough to stay a few extra nights in Whistler? :-)
